Entry #5 Allstate Advertisment Analysis

We all have seen Allstate ads the spokespersons voice is so distinct we could practically recognize his voice every time we hear the commercial. In this mayhem advertisement the intended audience is young teenaged girls. We can clearly see why because mayhem starts at the very beginning of the ad that he is a teenage girl. The author wants the audience to feel aware of their surroundings while driving instead of being on your phone which is distracting. This ad is also promoting safer driving habits and to also sign up for Allstate insurance. At the end of the ad the spokesperson says "mayhem is everywhere, so get an Allstate agent, are you in good hands?" This insinuates that the purpose of this ad is to get you to get Allstate insurance. The context of this ad is that we are seeing a "teenage girl" distrust of being betrayed and starts crashing into cars because of being too distracted by a broken heart. Americans have the urge to go on their cell phones while driving because it is their nature. We are so used to being on our phones that we cannot go thirty minutes without being on it and that's what the ad is showing us. The audience is going to laugh at this ad because it's portraying a serious situation in a laughable way. We see a man calling himself a woman discussing how his bff Becky kissed Johnny aka the boy, "she likes" so he starts crashing into cars and saying whoopsie as he's doing it. This ad gives off a serious but funny tone, the guy speaks in a I don't care attitude, but he is also speaking how a typical teenaged girl would speak. In the end the ad wraps up and tells us all if we are in good hands. Moral of the story no fight is worth your life!
